Community

Mar Vista Family Center’s (MVFC's) Community Program enables local residents to develop life skills for personal growth, so that they may contribute to safe and progressive home and neighborhood environments.

Community-Led Activities

MVFC adults, often with their children, participate in and lead activities such the annual Literacy Fair, street clean-ups, community gardening, family festivals, and sports and exercise activities. Through MVFC’s Advocacy Training, residents have learned the skills to organize themselves into a united voice when seeking assistance from state and local government concerning issues that impact their neighborhoods and their safety.

Everyone is welcome. Please check Events and News for information on upcoming programs.

Community Café

Through a collaboration with the Westside Food Bank and the Fineshriber Family Foundation, every weekday afternoon MVFC provides approximately 100 early, nutritious dinners to the youth who attend the after school programs, as well as adults in need.

Senior Citizens Program

Senior citizens run their own programs, including classes in computers, cooking, nutrition and the arts.
